Getting the most out of Azure Hybrid Benefit
By migrating to the cloud, the management of your Microsoft and Linux infrastructure has become a lot clearer and more comprehensible. However, associated costs are often quite high, as you don’t just pay for the use of Azure, but for all activated capacity/functionality. Fortunately, you now have the option of using the Azure Hybrid Benefit (AHB), which will help you significantly reduce costs and expenses.
The advantages of AHB
AHB means that you can use valid on-premise licenses (with active Software Assurance) for Windows Server VMs, SQL Server VMs, SQL Managed Instances, SQL Database and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) to reduce license costs. The only condition is that you you are required to configure and manage this in Azure yourself. Microsoft and Linux reserve the right to audit this (something that happens quite regularly).
Configuration and management of AHB
ITAM solutions helps organizations set up the Azure Hybrid Benefit. We have the necessary know-how to match your existing licenses with Azure licenses. Azure does offer a ‘Cost Advisor’ as well, but this requires some practical knowledge (and the correct calculation tables) to convert licenses into the ‘coins’ that the Azure machine has a preference for. Is everything set up and ready to go? Then ITAM solutions can train one or more employees to manage AHB.
Periodic update
Because software usage is constantly changing, accurate management of your AHB is extremely important. A (2-)monthly update will most certainly help avoid unpleasant surprises during an audit. Would you rather outsource these updates? ITAM solutions can take care of the entire process for you and give you complete peace of mind.
